Deadline Extended- C-19 Relief Grants for Latinx Artists and Culture Makers
Dear Seattle Latino Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce,
I hope this message finds you well.
In the spirit of Confianza – mutual trust and solidarity – NALAC launched Actos de Confianza earlier this year, a COVID relief program which exclusively supports Latinx art and culture makers through relief grants. The 2021 iteration of NALAC’s grantmaking was administered with three calls to different regions of the United States; right now, we are focusing on the Western U.S.
In order to increase geographic representation within our applicant pool across the Western U.S. for the equitable distribution of funds, we are reaching out to peers and organizations that can support us in sharing the news of an extended application period for this grant opportunity with Latinx artist and culture makers in Washington. Latinx artists who meet the eligibility criteria are eligible for a $2,500 grant; Latinx organizations who meet the eligibility criteria are eligible for a $5,000 grant (eligibility criteria and grant application details can be found at our website here).
This extension will allow for applications from Arizona, Hawaii Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah and Washington to be submitted from today, May 18th, 2021, to May 27th, 2021.
NALAC staff will evaluate applications from Latinx individuals and organizations through the lenses of social, racial and geographic equity and justice. In addition to assessing the urgency of need, NALAC will prioritize the following communities:
- Latinx artists and organizations that identify as Black and Indigenous.
- Latinx artists that identify as disabled.
- Diversity in the geographic location and landscape.
- Diverse representation of gender, gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation.
- Diverse representation of artistic discipline.
- Diverse representation of age and stage of artistic career (emerging, mid-career and artistic or cultural elders).
Will you help us share this opportunity with Latinx artists, cultural workers and organizations in your network? The Actos de Confianza Guidelines can be found on NALAC’s website. You can also read our original press release here. If you or your organization meet the eligibility criteria noted in the guidelines, we also invite you to apply!
Thank you for helping us spread the word. For any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me directly at jtrevino@nalac.org.
Best,
Jackie
