A Full Month of Job Fairs Across Washington
Goal to Hire 1,000 New Employees in Every Community The Postal Service is holding multiple job fairs throughout the Evergreen State in the month of March. Anyone in need of a job should stop by one of the many hosting locations listed below. While other companies are reducing their workforce, the Postal Service is actively hiring. Our goal is to welcome up to 1,000 new employees over the next few months across the state. The need is especially urgent for mail carriers, clerks, and mail handlers. To help reach that goal, we’re hosting job fairs in Seattle and other communities across the state. Anyone who needs a new career path or is looking for a first-time job, please make plans to stop by:
No appointment is necessary. The hiring events will help fill open positions throughout Washington. All job fairs are open to anyone interested in a postal career. And our employees will help locate jobs across the state for potential applicants as needed. Postal Service human resources employees will be available to help job fair attendees with benefits, qualifications, and application questions. Laptops will be available on the day of event for immediate application submission. Our employees are our greatest asset, and we are investing in our new personnel by providing robust training and on-the-job support. The Postal Service offers stability, competitive wages and benefits, and career advancement opportunities. Starting pay varies depending on the job. But starting pay for carriers ranges between $19 and $20 paid bi-weekly. Applications are accepted online at www.usps.com/careers. Applicants must be 18 years of age and be able to pass drug screening and a criminal background investigation. Although in some instances, interested candidates can also be 16 with a high school diploma. Applicants must be available to work weekends and holidays. Refer to the job announcement for full details, duties, responsibilities, job requirements, and benefits information. Job postings are updated frequently, so check back often for additional opportunities. If someone can’t make it to the job fair, or for additional information regarding available positions in all areas, applicants can go to our website at www.usps.com/careers. Jobs are uploaded every other Tuesday until filled. Potential applicants can also visit any Post Office location for more information. Stabilizing our workforce to ensure we consistently service the nearly 165 million addresses across the country is one part of the Postal Service’s 10-year Delivering for America plan to achieve financial stability and service excellence.

Become an Air Traffic Controller
July 22, 2021
Hello Friends,
When it comes to achieving the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) safety mission, diversity is critical. Having people with varied backgrounds and different perspectives makes us more innovative, stronger, and safer as an agency.
Starting today, the FAA is launching an awareness campaign to increase and diversify the number of applications to become air traffic controllers that we receive from women, minorities, and individuals from disadvantaged communities.
That is why I’m emailing you. We need your help to get the word out to as many people as possible so they can be prepared to submit their application during this year’s window that runs from July 30 – Aug. 2. You can get more information about the application process, requirements and qualifications to become an air traffic controller at www.faa.gov/levelup.
We developed a toolkit to assist you in sharing this opportunity with your networks, members, and other outreach groups. Be sure to follow the FAA on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram and share our posts that raise awareness about this great opportunity.
You know what it takes to keep the National Air System the safest and most efficient in the world. And you know we can’t do it without you. So help us find diverse, qualified, and motivated individuals from across the country to fill our applicant pools.
Thanks so much for your help,

WERE Coalition Update – Hiring an Executive Director
Dear Community Leaders and Partners,
Happy 2021! We write today to provide an update on the Washington Employers for Racial Equity (WERE) Coalition and to ask for your help as we search for our first Executive Director.
The Coalition was launched in December together with a new data-driven report, The Commitment to Progress: An Equitable Future for Washington, comparing the experiences of Black and white Washingtonians. The report provides clear and compelling evidence that racial bias and structural inequity exist in our state and our nation.
The WERE Coalition is comprised of CEOs and corporate leaders across Washington who have signed a Commitment to Progress. Committed to accountability, the Coalition’s collective goals include achieving parity in hiring, pay, and promotion for Black Washingtonians, supporting Black-owned businesses, and investing a combined $2 billion over the next five years to support racial equity. The Coalition will also join its voices to those advocating for racial equity in our state.
Coalition Growth: In the weeks since launch, we are pleased that more employers have joined the Coalition, bringing the total number of signers to 68 to date. We actively welcome other employers who want to join.
Additionally, we are thrilled to have 4 new co-sponsoring business organizations, including Downtown Seattle Association, OneRedmond, Seattle Southside Chamber of Commerce, and Thurston County Chamber of Commerce. You can see the full list of signatories and sponsors here.
Hiring an Executive Director: We are hiring a full-time Executive Director to lead the work of the coalition. We are seeking a mission-driven, dynamic leader who will be responsible for:
- Strategic Planning: Developing and executing a strategic workplan for the Coalition
- Membership support: Building out a program to support coalition members’ efforts to advance the Commitment to Progress
- Community Engagement: Building relationships with stakeholders and community to establish the Coalition as a trusted partner, and
- Measurement and Accountability: Establishing the metrics and reporting systems required to assess our collective progress
You can find the full job description here. Please help us find great candidates for this role by getting the word out to your networks and distributing the job description broadly.
We are committed to equity and opportunity for all people and all communities in Washington state, and look forward to partnering with you in the days and years to come.
Thank you for all that you do for our state and our communities.
Sincerely,
Chris and Steve
