Important changes to the Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Federal Contracting Program Certification Process
Changes to the Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Certification Process Start July 15.
Here's what new and existing WOSBs need to know:
Are you interested in seeking a WOSB/EDWOSB certification for the first time?
Becoming certified for the WOSB Federal Contracting Program means your business is eligible to compete for contracts that are set aside for WOSBs and economically disadvantaged WOSBs (EDWOSB) and sole-source federal contracts within eligible industries. That reduces your competition and opens doors to new lines of revenue in government contracting.
Starting July 15, you may either apply through the SBA's new free online certification; or, certify through an approved third-party entity at a cost.
Are you a self-certified WOSB/EDWOSB with or without active contracts?
Before July 15 you must download your documentation currently housed in the WOSB Program Repository at certify.sba.gov. To do so, click on the "Download" icon on the top right corner of each document.
On July 15 and beyond, you may either apply through beta.certify.sba.gov; or, certify through an approved third-part entity at a cost (make sure your third-party certificate is uploaded to the new platform.
Are you a third-party certified WOSB/EDWOSB?
Now through July 15 third-party certificates must be uploaded into the WOSB Repository at certify.sba.gov.
July 15 and beyond, you can create a new account on beta.certify.sba.gov and submit an application by uploading your third-party certified certificate for SBA to complete initial processing.
